CONTROLED BY SENSATIONALISM OR THE WORD OF GOD?

In the tradition of Hal Lindsey, Jack Van Impy, and a multitude of other dooms day end time preachers David Wilkerson has renewed his cry from years ago (that never came to pass) that calamity is on its way. Here it is from his blog in his own words.

“I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.

AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE – EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.

For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City.”

God said through Hosea that “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. I might add they are also gullible and deceived. Scare tactics fill coffers and make many of these guys rich, and people never learn. “Buy this book, listen to this CD or watch this DVD for all the facts”, they tell us. Time passes, nothing happens and before long they are back with more books, CDs and DVD and the deception continues.

I guess Forest Gump would say, “ Gullible is as gullible does.”

  1. Oh boy! What a waste in the name of Jesus.

    Royce

  2. It amazes me that time and time again the predictions fail and yet those who make the predictions are never failures.

In the words of that great american thinker Earl Pitts, “Wake up Amurica.”

  3. Blind leaders of the blind. What a tragedy!

  4. I dont know about the other preachers that you mention, but I have BOTH Wilkersons books, and at LEAST 85% of these books have come to PASS.
I know Wilkerson. This is a GOOD man of God. IF he has EVER made the mistake of a ‘wrong prophecy’ he came out PUBLICLY and repented.
You should be very careful, like in the book of Acts, you sould be fighting against God, and in this case, sorry, YOU ARE.

  5. I totally agree with Royce.
    Amen brother!

  6. What is wrong with feeling both?
Weren’t the crowds moved by emotion and the teachings of Jesus at the same time?

  7. Preacherman, you make a valid point. For far to long we have stayed away from and feared emotions, especially, in worship. People responded to Jesus with great emotion. When we are moved by “facts” alone we become dry and unappealing. I am reminded of the stone cold look of Joe Friday on Dragnet, “Just the facts”.

There are extremes in both directions, but when balanced hearts are moved and changed by both.

As always, thanks for your comments Preacherman.
